Offer process

Offers play a crucial role in allowing partners to sell products on the bol marketplace. Without an offer, you cannot sell anything on the bol marketplace. Therefore, next to product information, offer data is essential. This section provides an explanation of the offer domain at the bol marketplace.

When you create an offer on the bol marketplace, bol considers this offer as an intent to sell something on bol. This intent can lead to an actual offer on the bol marketplace, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. There can be various reasons why an intent is not leading to an actual offer on the bol marketplace, for instance:

  • Content related: mandatory product content for the provided EAN code is missing, or the provided EAN is new to the bol marketplace

  • Pricing related: bol considers the intended selling price as too high. The provided selling price is not within acceptable boundaries, This can affect the price perception customers have on bol and therefore the offer intent is rejected

  • Policy related: this product is not allowed to be sold by bol because of bol policy or legislation. Via our partnerplatform on 'Prohibited offers' you can read more information

  • Stock related: there is no stock remaining to fulfil a potential order to a customer

  • Delivery related: you create a 'fulfilment by bol' (FBB) offer but you are now allowed to sell via fbb or this item is not allowed according the the fbb proposition

  • Offer related: the partner set the offer on hold or e.g. required information (for instance the economic operator) is missing

  • Partner related: the account of the partner has been blocked by bol or the store of the partner is set to holiday mode, meaning the partners' store is closed. When on holiday, a potential order cannot be fulfiled

When all reasons are resolved, an offer will lead to an actual bol marketplace offer. This offer will then be shown to customers on the bol web shop.

If you create an offer on the bol marketplace, bol will validate this offer against different platform rules. This will take some time. If you want to be notified when this process is completed, you can use our Subscription API. Subscribe to the FOR_SALE and NOT_FOR_SALE event and you will be notified immediately regardless of the outcome.
