Account Budget

In addition to managing budgets on the campaign level (campaign budget and daily limit) you can also manage budgets on an account level. The account budget serves as a means of managing total spend on an account level, across all campaigns.

When setting an account budget, you can indicate the following:

  • A start date and an end date

    • This indicates the time frame for which you want the budget to be active.

  • A budget

    • The total amount you want to spend during the above-mentioned period

  • A purchasing order number/reference

    • Reference which can be used on account budget to assign costs such as clicks

In case you want to use account budgets, you should change your account settings from “basic” to “advanced”. It is possible to have multiple account budgets activated at any given point in time, however, incoming clicks will only be allocated to a single account budget. We use the following logic to assign clicks to account budgets:

  1. We check which budgets are valid on today’s date.

  2. Based on the end date, we select the budget that expires first (budgets without a validity end date will expire last).

  3. If multiple budgets have the same validity end date, we select the budget that was created earlier.

Note: The account budget supersedes all campaign budgets. Once the account budget is spent or expired we will stop serving all ads, despite the fact that there might be budget left on the campaign level. For campaigns to start running again, there are four options:

  1. If your budget amount is reached - add budget to one of the account budgets that is valid on today’s date.

  2. If your budget is expired – Extend the time frame of an account budget that has budget left unspent.

  3. If you want to create a new budget - Add a new account budget valid on today’s date.

  4. If you want to stop using account budgets altogether – Change the account setting from “advanced” to “basic”.

Billing Party

This section is only relevant for advertisers with a multi-billing setup.

When creating and updating an account budget it is possible to configure a billing advertiser. This is an optional field but create and update requests for advertisers with multi-billing setup are validated and must contain a valid billing advertiser id.

Once the start date of the account budget has passed it is not possible to change billing advertiser id.

In case advertiser has multiple billing parties configured and budget setting is configured to be BASIC then the latest configured billing advertiser will be used.
